[Update: General availability] Microsoft’s Your Phone app now supports phone calls for more Android devices
Microsoft has been pushing out updates to the Your Phone app recently and it’s become pretty great. Last month, Your Phone gained a battery indicator and prepared support for making phone calls. Now, in the latest Windows Insider build, that phone calling support is ready to roll out to more devices.
Calling with Your Phone was originally announced at Samsung Unpacked for the Galaxy Note 10 series. As mentioned above, Microsoft began preparing to support more devices last month. The latest update to Your Phone brings the calling support to any Android 7+ phone. You will also need a Windows 10 PC with Bluetooth, Windows 10 19H1 or newer, and a minimum of Windows 10 build 18362.356.
Your Phone calling allows you to answer, decline, and initiate calls on your PC. You can decline calls with custom text messages or send them directly to voicemail. Your Phone also shows your recent call history and you can seamlessly move an ongoing call from PC to phone.
Microsoft has built Your Phone into a very powerful app for Android users. In some ways, it has filled a gap in functionality that Google has yet to fill. Apple makes it super easy to sync with your iPhone on a Mac, but Google doesn’t have that. The Messages web client can be a pain to use and it doesn’t support phone calls. Check out Microsoft Your Phone if you’re a Windows user.

After being tested with Windows Insiders and a limited number of phones, Your Phone calling is now rolling out to the general public. You will need a Windows 10 PC with Bluetooth and an Android phone with Android 7.0+ to use the feature. Make sure the Windows app and the Android app are both updated to the latest version. You may not see the update right away.
