Samsung is rolling out the One UI 2.1 update to the Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung has gotten considerably better at delivering updates to its phones in the last few years. The Galaxy S9 series was one of the first to see this improvement with the Android Pie update. The Galaxy S9/S9+ received Android 10 earlier this year in the form of One UI 2.0, and now One UI 2.1 is rolling ou as well.

We knew One UI 2.1 was headed to the Galaxy S9 series as it was reported back in March. This is likely the last major OS update for these devices, but it’s a pretty good one. One UI 2.1 includes the company’s new “Quick Share” feature, similar to Apple’s AirDrop. The update also includes “Music Share,” which allows you to share Bluetooth connections with other devices.

One UI 2.1 also features a number of new camera modes. “Single Take” is sort of a burst mode-like feature that takes a series of photos and video clips for 10 seconds. “MyFilters” allows you to replicate the effects of your favorite photos. “Pro Video,” which was removed in Android Pie, is now back as well.

This update also brings the June 2020 Android security patches. The update carries firmware version G96xNKSU3ETF4 in Korea and G96xFXXU9ETF5 in Germany. We should see One UI 2.1 roll out to the Galaxy S9 series in more countries over the coming days and weeks. As always, you can check for the update in the Settings > Software update menu.
