Facebook Messenger redesigns its logo, adds more customization features
Facebook Messenger has an all-new logo, and it’s also gaining several new customization features, including chat themes and a vanish mode.
The new Messenger logo adopts the gradient design seen in the Instagram logo, going from Facebook’s patented solid blue to a blue-to-pink. According to Facebook’s Messenger VP Stan Chudnovsky, the new logo is meant to be more fun and mark the company’s continued evolution toward blending its features with Instagram.
“Our new logo reflects a shift to the future of messaging, a more dynamic, fun, and integrated way to stay connected to the people you’re close to,” Chudnovsky said.
In addition, Facebook Messenger is set to introduce more customization options, including chat themes like love and tie-dye, so you can make your conversations more unique. The platform will also introduce custom reactions, selfie stickers, and a vanish mode.
Today’s update comes on the heels of an even larger announcement in September, when Facebook said it would introduce cross-platform messaging between Instagram and Messenger. The platform has also introduced several other new features over the last several months, including screen sharing and the ability to video chat with up to 50 people.
The new logo and chat themes are already live on our devices running the latest version from Google Play, but it could take some time for the features to be enabled on your device. You can download the latest version of Messenger for Android from the link below.
